Vallaresso Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2014

Brunello di Montalcino is a sub-region known for making more powerful and full bodied versions of Sangiovese than what you typically find in the nearby region of Chianti. This was still the case in 2014, even though the growing season was unusually wet and cool. While there were lower yields across the board due to the weather, the grapes produced were of high-quality and producers, like Vallaresso, didn’t have to compromise a thing.

This wine is full-bodied with vibrant acidity and firm tannins. Pronounced red fruit flavours of cherry, strawberry, and plum accompany dried herbs, violets, and leather. The wine was aged in oak and has a delectable, smoky vanilla character and notes of warm spice.

It’s drinking beautifully right now and can be enjoyed with savoury dishes, cured meats, or good company.
