San Tanaro Barolo DOCG 2015

Nebbiolo is to Piedmont what Pinot Noir is to Central Otago. It thrives in this alpine region, and absolutely stuns in the sub-region of Barolo. The 2015 vintage was considered excellent and ranked 4.5/5 by Decanter. A warm dry growing season ensured ripe tannins and an intense fruit core, but there was enough rain and cool nights to also give the wines vibrancy and tension.

This award-winning wine reflects this. Aged for two years in oak, the wine has the complexity and character typical of a fine Barolo. A mix of red fruit, violets, and liquorice are followed by ethereal aromas of truffle, cedar, and tobacco. The grippy tannins and bright acidity remind you that this pale ruby wine has a surprising amount of power and depth. It’s a wine you can cellar for a while, but you can also pop the cork and enjoy with rich dishes such as pork, beef, and duck.
