"This is a big, juicy, ripe tasting, full bodied Spanish red blend of two grapes; Bobal and Tempranillo. Its spicy flavours and fleshy plum appeal make it an appealing wine to drink all year round. Lovely balance, great value for money." - Joelle Thomson, Wine Writer
"Looking for something to spice up hump day? Then this midweek quaffer might be just the ticket! This big blend of Bobal and Tempranillo from Utiel-Requena on Spain’s east coast is a great go to wine when you’re not sure what’s for dinner, or where the night may take you. Its full bodied and fruity, spicy and just a tad smoky. It’ll go with almost anything you throw together and best of all its going to be drinking well for the next few years! Grab a case today." -17/20, Wine Central Tasting Panel
Wine has been made in the Utiel-Requeña region of Spain for over 2,000 years. It has hot, dry summers, but luckily the Solano wind moderates the warm temperatures. This keeps things nice and cool at night for the grapes, which preserves their fresh fruit flavours. Bobal thrives in this area and is a speciality of the region, along with Tempranillo.
Both grapes are both known for making fruity but complex wines. This delicious wine has the best of both worlds. Ripe red fruits, succulent plums, and tart blackberries are joined by spicy flavours. A touch of smoke and leather presents on the finish showing that this wine has more depth than may first appear.
