Piccini Hieron Primitivo di Manduria 2018

It’s hard to go wrong with Primitivo from Puglia, and this 2018 from Hieron is no exception. Puglia is in Italy’s south, right in the heel of its boot, and is known for its hot, Mediterranean climate, tempered only by the occasional sea breeze. The wines made here are full bodied, rich, and bursting with varietal flavour. Notes of plum jam, tobacco box, black and blueberries as well as a hint of freshly cracked black pepper make this one not to be missed. Grab a case or two for winter, it’s going to fly off the shelves at this price.

A ruby red wine with marked notes of ripe fruit especially red cherries and an elegant floral touch of violet. Strongly fragranced with dried prunes, tobacco and chocolate. Delicious overworked dark cherries, blueberries, blackberries. Slightly pepper and dried berries afterwards. Strong, well-structured wine.

Ideal with succulent starters, assorted cheeses, grilled meats and tasty soups.
