MONTE NOBILE GRILLO 2012

A zesty, fragrant white wine bursting with citrus and exotic fruit flavours. This refreshing wine ends in a long and elegant finish with tropical notes.

Grillo grapes are an ancient Sicilian variety which make refreshingly crisp, dry white wines. The vineyards are located in the Trapani province of Sicily, stretching 450 meters in altitude from the low-lying coast to the mountains in light, clayey soils. The climate in this region is dry, dominated by Mediterranean breezes, with large temperature differences between day and night. The grapes were hand-harvested early in the morning in the first week of September under excellent conditions. Fermentation was in temperature-controlled, stainless steel tanks for approximately two weeks. The wine is left on its lees for two months to give it complexity and character

"It's elegantly fragrant on the nose with citrus, apple and floral characters. The palate is ripe and rounded with lovely fruit weight and smooth texture, beautifully framed by crisp acidity. Made from an ancient Sicilian grape, grillo, this is a well-balanced and immediately appealing dry white. $20.00. 13.5%." 4 Stars - Sam Kim
