A Hawke's Bay Syrah with 75% of the fruit coming from Mission Estate's Gimblett and Mere Road vineyards.
Abundant with dark berry, spice, mocha and floral aromas with the Gimblett Road portion contributing to the structure and sweet spice aromas. The palate is soft, showing dark berry, chocolate and spices with silky tannins giving a fine structure and long finish.
"One nose of this 2018 Syrah from Mission Estate and you know its going to be good. Obvious notes of black pepper, chocolatey mocha and dark cherries mingle together and are backed up by easy and soft tannins on the palate. The wine has a long finish and is so well balanced it goes great with food. Serve with a simply marinated lamb rack for a match made in heaven. Drink now." - 17/20, Wine Central Tasting Panel
"Aromas of blackberries, plums, and violets on the nose. Velvety tannins and balanced acidity give this wine a soft and pleasant mouthfeel. Fresh berries delight the palate along with a touch of milk chocolate and cracked black pepper." - 18/20, Diana Hawkins, Certified Sommelier & MSc
