This is surplus stock from last years Mission Concert - hen e the incredible price for this excellent wine.
This wine very much reflects the 2016 vintage, where night time temperatures were warmer than in normal years. The flavours are riper on the whole with an added bonus of an extra sense of minerality. The colour is pale. The bouquet has intense white currant, floral, herbal and passion fruit aromas. In the mouth the wine has good weight and texture with fine acidity. The finish is juicy with good weight, leading to a dry persistent clean finish.
This is a PET (plastic) Bottle made exclusively for the Mission Concerts, so perfect for picnics and events.
Mission’s Blind River vineyard possesses a special aspect with gentle slopes and soils comprising sandy loams, with a proportion of clay particles that overlay a gravel subsoil. They are soils that are naturally free draining and give good vine health but restricted vigour due to these stony sub soils. The blocks are planted over a series of elevations. The lower blocks are on flat land and the soils heavier and crop loads higher. As the elevation gets higher there is more slope and the soils poorer, the vines less vigorous producing lighter crops that produce wine with fantastic minerality. This wine produced off bottom, middle and top blocks, had low crop loads averaging around 10 - 11 tonnes per hectare. The fruit had developed intense flavours at harvest, on dates between 6th and 10th of April at 21Brix on average.
Fruit was crushed with minimal skin contact. Only free-run juice and light pressings were used in the final blend. The Sauvignon Blanc wine was fermented in at cool temperatures in stainless steel. Yeast strains specifically developed for Sauvignon Blanc were used to conduct the fermentation.
Subtle use of oak creates a complex wine with layered fruit and a lengthy finish. Aromas of oak and vanilla are followed by more oak, a slight twist of zest and light tropical flavours. Good length and well-balanced finish. Region: South Eastern Australia Closure: Screwcap Alcohol: 14% 4 Stars Wine Central Team Read More
The heart of Italy is ready… Umbria, one of Italy’s landlocked wine regions, has surprised us with this delicious little Pinot Grigio. Lightly perfumed and fruity, with typical pear and citrus notes, we’re pairing it with salmon and grilled asparagus, the challenge is to find a better combo! A beautifully, light, vibrant white to be appreciated for its zesty, citrus and green apple character and refreshing quality. Best enjoyed on its own or with a salad of piquant grilled prawns. Taking a thoroughly contemporary approach, Bella Modella creates a fine yet affordable style of modern still wines and Prosecco. The... Read More
100% Estate Grown Wines from the Waipara Vineyards at Waipara Springs were planted in the early 1980’s and the vines are some of the oldest in the region. Chardonnay was first, followed by a short list of aromats – Riesling, Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer, as well as Pinot Noir and Merlot. ‘The Springs’ range is all about bold, fresh fruit, typical of the region and made to drink young. The Pinot Gris is a rollercoaster of tropical fruits (think pineapple, mango and pear) and lingering gingerbread spice. It does have a hint of residual sugar, but the acid balances it... Read More
