Milcrest Estate Reserve Pinot Noir 2014

From the truly outstanding 2014 vintage where the growing season was described as 'perfect' and the wines made at Milcrest Estate in this vintage are some of the best wines in the last 25 years.

"Milcrest Estate is a small vineyard located on the fringes of sunny Nelson in New Zealand’s South Island. The focus here is very much on hand crafting the wines, from the picking of the grapes to the work in the winery. The 2014 has been in bottle for nearly a decade, after spending some time in 100% French oak and then in the Milcrest cellars. Expect to see developed tertiary aromas of earthy cinnamon spice, stewed blackberries, and ripe cherries, along with well-integrated tannins and acidity. Open it up and decant, before enjoying!" - Wine Central tasting panel

This wine is a complex structural wine, made from a combination of 7 clones grown on our Moutere site.  It is unfined and unfiltered thereby retaining full bodied fruit flavour. Smokey, bing cherries, spice and earthy characters dominate this wine.  It is a wine that is made to gain complexity from 4 - 9 years and will continue to evolve.

A great accompaniment to steak, duck, beef and lamb shanks.
