Il Sarone Vino Rosso 2017

"How do they do it? The Italians are masters at making juicy, full bodied dry red wines that are fantastically good value for money and here’s a great example. Il Sarone (“Eel sah-rone-ee”) is a big, dry, fruity red with savoury spice notes and is a vino de tavola style (made from grapes grown all over Italy). It’s good quality and great drinking, without a crazy price tag to match." - 4 Stars, Joelle Thomson, Wine Writer

Bet you haven’t tried this blend before!

When we heard about this wine and the number of grapes that go into making it, we knew we had to try it. This Vino Rosso, which can be any red wine from Italy ( e.g. no holds bar when it comes to what can go in it, or how it’s made!) is interesting in that it’s a big blend of Negroamaro, Primitivo, Montepulciano and Nero d'Avola from Puglia in Southern Italy. Some of the grapes are dried before being fermented (much like their Ripasso brothers in the north) which give the wine an amazing concentration. On the palate think black Doris plums, cherry, vanilla and spice. Its juicy and full but with soft tannins that make it an easy quaffer. Drink now and through to 2020. - Wine Central Tasting Panel

Fruity, round and balanced. Il Sarone is a blend of classic Italian grapes and this particular combo makes for a food-friendly, approachable wine with moderate acidity and soft tannins. The finish is lengthy and rich.

This wine is inspired by the southern Italian winemakers, 'Big Sarone.'
