Very dark, deep, purple-hued black-red, near impenetrable, a little lighter edged, this is youthful in appearance. The nose is firmly packed with aromas of well-ripened, sweet blackcurrant fruit and cassis liqueur, along with blackberries, dark raspberries and nuances of mint and fresh herbs. This has aromatic varietal clarity, and the oaking is sensitive. Medium-full to full-bodied, the palate features sweetly ripe and succulent flavours of blackcurrants and cassis, blackberries, and subtle notes of eucalypt and mint. The fruit is encased by fine-grained, powdery tannin extraction and structure, with integrated, ripe acidity. The wine has a firm, elegantly concentrated core and line that leads to a juicy and luscious, lively and vibrant finish with fine tannin textures. This is a finely concentrated, sweetly ripe blackcurrant and cassis fruited Cabernet Sauvignon with nuances of mint and eucalypt. Serve with roasted lamb, beef and venison, and harder cheeses over the next 5-6 years. Fruit from the Coonawarra district fermented to 14.5% alc., the wine given oak contact.
