Looking for a wine for a special occasion that won’t break the bank? This 2020 from Chateau le Barry is a great choice! Saint-Emilion, located on the right bank in Bordeaux is one of the most prestigious appellations in the area and home to famous wineries like Chateau Ausone, Chateau Pavie and Chateau Cheval Blanc. Merlot is mostly used here, with the other Bordeaux grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Malbec also allowed in the production of their wines. The fruit is soft and well-integrated, with notes of Damson plum, vanilla, and cinnamon most obvious. The tannins and acidity are grippy and help give a longer finish. Its drinking well now but should also last into 2025 if you store it properly. Decant if you want and enjoy!
Aged in both new, and new and old barrels for 16 months, the oak is well integrated and backed up with dark black fruits, liquorice and a hint of vanilla. Its rich, concentrated and elegant and with 5 years ageing under its belt its ready to drink now. Try it with grilled beef or roast lamb.
