Chateau La Hourcade 2018

From the extreme north of the Medoc comes this quintessential Bordeaux blend, that’s easy drinking and a great introduction to French reds. Its filled with cherries, blackcurrants and plum with notes of roasted coffee on the finish. Serve in a big glass and with any wintery meal, enjoy!

Lynnette Hudson, Experiencing Winemaker and Writer "A succulent, juicy, ripe expression of Cabernet that is incredible, everyday drinking. Aromas of blackberries, boysenberries, mulberries and these flavours continue on the palate. Rounded juicy fruit on the palate, soft mouthcoating tannins with a good acid finish. Perfect drinking now."

Septimius Cecchini, the father of the current owner, arrived in the Medoc with the 1940 exodus. He became later the owner of Ch ateau La Hourcade, an estate of nearly 40 acres. He was both winemaker and postman at the beginning, and was the head of a family of 8 children. His son Gino, took over the estate in 1967. He had the opportunity to buy some surroundings parcels up to 4 hectares in 1986.

Today the property covers 18 hectares of vines. Until the 1987 vintage, he sold the production to the local cooperative. In 1988, he decided to leave the cooperative and to be in control of his distribution. He bought nearby plots gradually to expand the property and devoted himself to his two passions, wine and horses.
