Chateau Bernachon 2017

From between the two seas. Chateau Bernachon is in the Entre-Deux-Mers region of Bordeaux and their vineyards are planted between the two major rivers that stretch the length of the region, the Garonne and Dordogne (‘between the two seas’). Merlot dominates here, with Cab Franc and Petit Verdot also being added to make up the blend. It is a great entry into the region, with a medium body and full fruit on the palate. Notes of blackcurrant, plum, vanilla and a hint of mushroom on the finish. Drink this one now.

Chateau Bernachon is in the Entre-deux-Mers region of Bordeaux. Literally translated as ‘between two seas’ the vineyards are planted between the two major rivers that stretch the length of the region, the Garonne and Dordogne. Being so close to the rivers mean that the grapes are planted on soils formed mostly of sand and clay, perfect for Merlot. Their vineyards span over 12ha and at almost 100m above sea level are some of the highest in the area. The winemakers here believe in combining traditional practices with modern techniques to produce their wines.

Chateau Bernachon is owned by Mr Jean-Claude Combret. The estate is situated in the Entre-Deux Mers area of Bordeaux. The vineyard covers 12 hectares. It is located on the the plateau of the village of Ruch, in the Castillon area, on the right bank. Located at 100 meters in height, the vineyard is one of the highest of Gironde. Thanks to this geographical position, the estate takes advantage of a good exposure. These natural conditions are very important for the maturity and the healthy ripeness of the grapes. Very involved is the management of his estate, Mr Combret takes a great care of the vineyard. He combines traditions and modernity to produce the best wine as possible.
