Chateau Artos Lacas produces this big blend of 4 grapes, Carignan, Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre every year and the 2019 is even better than previous vintages. Filled with bramble like notes, earthy vanilla, and ripe red cherries, it's luscious and full bodied, a delicious accompaniment to beef wellington or a perfectly cooked steak. Drink now and in years to come.
The Artos Lacas vineyard is located on the south face of the Alaric mountains in the Languedoc-Roussillon range. It's a large and diverse region in the south of France which is home to many different grapes allowing for a huge variety of wine and wine styles to be made here. Corbières is one of the most well-known appellations in the region and is mostly home to the production of reds and rosés.
Joelle Thomson, Wine Writer (2017 vintage) "Corbieres is one of the biggest wine regions in Languedoc, which stretches around the southern French coast – it has about double the number of grapevines planted as Hawke’s Bay does, by way of comparison. It’s also devoted mostly to reds made from at least 50% Syrah, Mourvedre, Grenache and Lladoner Pelut (a grape that’s pretty unknown). Carignan can also make up some of the blend. The wines are dry, deeply coloured, full bodied and savoury – top flavours with pizza."
