Cantine Due Palme Canonico Negroamaro 2012

Medium ruby red colour; aromas of plum, dried herb and cooked black fruit; dry, medium bodied, soft tannins, juicy red fruit flavours. This is a very easy drinking and versatile wine at an excellent price.

Negroamaro is an ancient Apulian vine whose origins are uncertain - although it is believed it was introduced by the Greeks. The origin of the name is also not clear; some believe that it comes from the dialectal expression “niuru maru” (black and bitter) because of the dark colour of its berries and the basically bitter taste of the wine.

Grapes harvested in the second week of September and macerated into stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature with selected yeasts, for 8 days. The wine is then racked into French oak barriques where it matures for 4 months. After completing the malolactic fermentation, the wine decants in stainless steel vats prior to bottling.
