Belles du Sud Cabernet Franc 2019

Looking for something to win over a crowd? Then look no further than the 2019 Cabernet from Belles du Sud.

Cabernet Franc can be a tough grape to get right. Sometimes it’s herbaceous and savoury, and others its full of wonderfully ripe fruit flavours. This award winning wine is one of the latter.

Grapes were taken from select vineyards around the Pays dOc (southern France) and then blended to create a great vintage expression year on year. They were then destemmed before fermentation to remove any herbal or vegetal qualities.

It was fermented in stainless steel to retain its bright fruit aromas. Blackberry, dark plums, and juicy red berries form the core of this wine, and the palate is medium-bodied with just a hint of tannin.

Founded in 2000 by Claude Vialade, Domaines Auriol who produce Belles du Sud is a forward-thinking négociant – producer of wines from purchased material, producer of wines from its own estate vineyards and leased vineyards, and a wine merchant. It is actively involved in the ecological transition of all its winegrowing partners and aims to establish Occitania as Europe’s leading organic wine region. When Claude took charge of Château Saint-Auriol in her early 20s, it was in state of neglect and disrepair. After years of reconstruction, restoration, planting and replanting, it is now the exemplary 43-hectare Saint Auriol La Châtelaine that stretches across elevated terraces of the Orbieu Valley from Lagrasse to Lézignan-Corbières.
