Gold Medal - Concours Mondial Bruxelles Wine Comp. 2014
Fresh, complex cassis and mint fruit flavours with some well integrated vanillin oak. Full bodied with dense ripe cassis fruit flavours balanced with vanilla oak but yet long and smooth. Selected premium vineyards experienced ideal growing conditions producing wines of high sugar and flavours. Cool nights providing ideal harvesting conditions. The grapes were picked at between 13.5 to 14.0 Baume to produce the fruit flavours that are required to make this great wine. The grapes were fermented in a mixture of vessels to produce as much colour and flavour as possible. Portion of the wine underwent oak during fermentation and once dry, the remaining went to oak until the right balance was achieved. Careful tasting and blending, by our winemaker, help produce this wine of style and great value for money. Try with chargrilled sirloin or a hearty minestrone.
This wine has the flavour, structure and balance to be enjoyed now or offers added satisfaction from further cellaring.

A dry wine with still a little elegant acidity, followed by liquorice, mocha, dried porcini mushroom, dried strawberry and cherry notes, then finishing with aspects of tobacco leaf and firm-sh tannins. Attractive wine presenting appealing Central Otago Pinot Noir characters of dark fruit aromas, supported by intense complex flavours with hints of dried herbs. Elegant and textural on the palate, this wine has fine tannins with a persistent, lingering finish. Under the care of award winning winemaker Carol Bunn, this wine was crafted from a vintage which was carefully managed and harvested at optimum ripeness at 25.4° Brix, and fermented... Read More
This American Pale Ale has a clean crisp malt bill, and is matched with a load of NZ Hops – Cascade, Southern Cross, Liberty, Orbit and then late & dry hopped with American hops, Amarillo, Zythos and Simco. Inspiration People never give up their Liberty's but under some delusion. You've got to fight for your right to hops, and to roll, what you want, when you want, with who you want. The fox days are done, the Trump's are coming, so you better run. Only if for a night, but prepare for a life time. So who wrote the rules... Read More
The Primitivo variety of Puglia (introduced to California in the 18th century where it is now called Zinfandel) produces opulent, powerful , intensely fruity wines. This modern example coming from low-yielding, old vines is rich and opulent. In 2000 Gaetano Marangelli and his brother Vito Angelo, both natives of Puglia (Italy's "heel of the boot"), began making wines that aim to seamlessly blend ancient tradition with a modern vision. They experiment with unfamiliar varietals and explore new ways to emphasise the uniqueness of Puglia's indigenous grapes to craft harmonious, balanced, yet uniquely powerful wines that have received numerous national and... "Drinkable Italian wines under $15 are thin on the ground but this newcomer breaks the mould and is made mostly from Merlot (65%) with Negroamaro providing the Italianesque je ne sais quoi of ripe black fruit, savoury spice and liquorice flavours. Saluti means ‘greetings’. It’s made by a big company in Puglia; the hot, arid, sun drenched heel of the Italian boot, and is imported here by Master of Wine Stephen Bennett; a long time Italiaphile who has opened many doors for Spanish wine in this country. Let’s hope he can do the same for Italy." 4 STARS Joelle Thomson "Dark,... Read More
